Experience the rush, discover the history onboard Goldfields Jet
Goldfields Jet has been operating within the Kawarau gorge since 1991.
Since then, the company has safely carried thousands of people on one of New Zealand most spectacular high volume rivers.
Goldfields Jet is based at Goldfields Mining Centre on state highway 6 in the Kawarau Gorge. (The main Queenstown-Cromwell highway).
From our base the trip heads south down the river into the shallow braded waters of the Bannokburn arm.
This section has only been accessible by Jet boat since the construction of the Clyde dam and the subsequent creation of the lake Dunstan in 1989.
The trip then heads up the river and into the spectacular Kawarau gorge. As the river narrows the rapids begin to form, stopping at the foot of the mighty Staircase rapid before returning down river to Goldfields Jet Base finishing with our unique 360-degree spin.
The duration of the trip is 40 minutes and includes an extensive commentary on the history of the area and other points of interest.
Full length, protective spray jackets and M.S.A. approved life jackets are provided.
Warm clothing is recommended in winter however this is an outdoor activity so dress accordingly
